Surface Decoration Options for Glass Perfume Bottles

Eight decoration options for glass perfume bottles compared, with suitability notes, combination advice, the 1,000 pcs decoration MOQ and the 15-30 day lead time after sample approval.

Glass perfume bottles in five decoration finishes - clear, coloured, frosted, gradient and electroplated - custom glass perfume bottle manufacturer SEALAND Packaging
A clear glass bottle photographs beautifully and then disappears on a crowded shelf. So the question behind most decoration enquiries is simple: which finish makes this bottle recognisably ours?
If that sounds like the decision on your desk, this guide compares the eight finishes we offer on our glass bottles and shows where each one earns its place.
We ordered samples in three finishes and still could not brief the team, because nobody told us which effects could be combined.

Why Finish Selection Deserves More Than a Guess

Decoration is usually treated as the last line of the brief, and that is exactly where it goes wrong. The finish you pick changes how the glass reads, how the cap pairs and how the gift box matches, so a late change touches the whole set rather than one surface.
The common failure is ordering a finish for its look alone. A metallic effect that reads rich in a photo can dominate a slim rectangular body; a texture that looks delicate up close can vanish at retail distance. Because each finish behaves differently on clear glass, the choice deserves the same rigor as the bottle itself.

The Eight Finishes, and What Each One Does

This is the range as we publish it, so you can check each option against the brief.

Screen Printing

The classic workhorse for logos, patterns and text. This is where most brand marks start, since crisp one- or two-color printing sits naturally on clear glass.

Hot Stamping

A premium finish that produces metallic and matte effects. It is the natural partner for short, high-impact marks on caps and shoulders, and it sits comfortably beside screen printing in the same brief.

Spray Coating

Color coating and frosted coating across the whole body. This is the option when the glass itself should carry the color, from a soft frost to a saturated coat, and it is a frequently requested finish in our range.

Gradient Coating

A color fade across the body, dense at the base and clear at the shoulder. Our gradient square bottle is built around this finish, so lacquer and silhouette were designed as one.

Frosted Finish

A soft matte glass surface with a timeless character. Frost diffuses light instead of reflecting it, which is why frosted bottles read quietly premium next to glossy neighbors.

Electroplating

A shiny metallic finish for luxury positioning. Plating turns the surface mirror-bright, so it is often reserved for the cap or a shoulder band, where the reflection frames the bottle.

Crackle Coating

A special texture effect with an artistic character. The crackle pattern breaks up reflections across the body, and this makes it a natural choice for limited editions.

Water Transfer Printing

Full-coverage patterns that wrap the entire body. This is the route for artwork beyond simple marks, such as marbling, wood grain or multi-color pattern work.

Combining Finishes Without Overloading the Bottle

Finishes also combine, and that is where a bottle stops looking like a catalogue item and starts looking like your brand. Our published decoration examples pair screen printing with hot stamping on the same bottle, and the gradient programme adds its color choice on top of both. Multiple combinable finishes are supported, so confirm the combination at sampling rather than on the production order.
One combination that tends to hold up: a plated or stamped cap over a sprayed or gradient body, with the brand mark in screen print. That structure keeps one hero effect on the bottle and lets everything else support it.

Decoration MOQ and Timing, as Published

Plan the numbers the same way you plan the look. The published decoration MOQ is 1,000 pcs, depending on the bottle and the finish, and the published lead time is 15-30 days after sample approval. Both figures sit on top of the bottle quantity, so book them into the launch calendar together.
The flow behind those figures runs in four steps: select the bottle, confirm the finish, approve the sample, then mass decoration under quality control. That approved sample then becomes the reference for the whole run, so treat sampling as the checkpoint where color and effect are locked.
