Sooner or later every packaging inbox gets the same first question: how many bottles do we need to order? The honest answer is that the number moves with what you want to change, so the useful question is which route you are standing on.
If that sounds like the email you are drafting right now, this guide walks through the four quantity tiers we publish at SEALAND Packaging and explains what each tier unlocks.
One page said 500 pcs and another said 5,000, and nobody could tell me which number applied to my order.
Why MOQ Confusion Is So Common
The confusion exists because MOQ is not one number. It changes with the route: a bottle held in stock, a bottle you decorate, a complete custom set, or a new mould. Because buyers meet these numbers on different pages, they read them as contradictions instead of tiers.
Read one tier as if it applied to everything and the quote round turns frustrating: you might ask for 500 pcs of a fully custom set, or plan for 2,000 pcs when a stock bottle would have carried the launch. That mismatch is a common and expensive mistake.
What the Wrong Tier Costs
Order above your route and cash sits in glass you did not need yet; order below it and the project stalls while quantities are renegotiated. Both outcomes burn weeks, which is usually the tighter constraint in a launch calendar.
The deeper reason is that each tier ties to different production work. Stock bottles sit finished in our range; decoration adds a printing or coating pass; full customization engages caps, boxes and the complete set. The minimum has to cover the set-up behind each route, because that set-up is not the same.
The Four Quantity Tiers, in Order
This is the ladder as we publish it, so you can check every quote and every plan against it.
Tier one, in-stock bottles from 500 pcs. This route moves quickly: choose from our existing perfume and diffuser bottles and add your logo, finishes or packaging on top. The published floor for the in-stock range is 500 pcs.
Tier two, surface decoration from 1,000 pcs. When screen printing, hot stamping or a coating goes onto a bottle, the decoration run carries its own minimum, published at 1,000 pcs depending on the bottle and the finish. Keep that number in view whenever decoration sits on top of a bottle order.
Tier three, full customization from 2,000 pcs. Logo, coating, box and complete-set customization on existing bottles and packaging starts from 2,000 pcs. This is the route for a launch where bottle, cap, decoration and gift box are designed to move as one set.
Tier four, a new mould, quoted by evaluation. When the project needs its own bottle, the quantity is set by an engineering evaluation of the design rather than by a published floor, and our custom bottle development route is described exactly that way.
One more reference for your comparison sheet: each bottle programme also lists its own production MOQ on its page. Our 10ml square mini travel refillable bottle, for example, lists 5,000 pcs (negotiable). So when you compare pages, check the programme minimum next to the tier minimum, and treat both as opening positions for a conversation.
Which Tier Fits Your Launch
Match the tier to the decision you are actually making. Testing a concept or filling a small channel starts at the in-stock 500 pcs with your logo on the bottle. Building a decorated identity on a proven shape starts at the 1,000 pcs decoration minimum. Designing a complete set starts at 2,000 pcs. Reinventing the bottle itself is an evaluation conversation, and engineering will quote what the mould truly needs. That way every decision lands on the right tier.
A one-line reference for the planning sheet, so the whole team quotes the same numbers: 500 / 1,000 / 2,000 / by evaluation, for in-stock, decoration, full set and new mould.
